SAMPLE SOIL AMENDMENT PLAN · RF-5
Balanced amendment blend · 100 sq ft vegetable garden
This Minnesota validation fixture demonstrates how QMA credits everything supplied by one amendment before calculating the remaining needs.
Nutrient need: 0.30 lb K₂O. Verified wood-ash analysis: 3% K₂O. Amendment equivalent: 10.0 lb wood ash for the 100-square-foot demonstration area.
The same 10.0 lb wood ash also contributes phosphorus and liming value. Those collateral contributions are credited before fish bone meal or calcitic lime is calculated.
Why the blend is coordinated
The demonstration calculation uses the soil-test result, the supported crop target, the saved area, and documented amendment analyses. It does not select separate products independently and then stack their full rates. Each selected amendment changes what remains to be supplied.
Safeguards shown by the sample
- Only clean, untreated wood ash with a verified analysis is eligible.
- Actual product analyses and labels override generic grades.
- Do not substitute a magnesium-bearing lime source when magnesium status does not support it.
- Do not repeat the correction until the timed retest shows a continuing need.
